hello to all fellow boostaholics

i'm from austria, europe, and i'm really glad i've found your site because it is very useful to my current project. i'm a mechanical engineering student who apparently is stuck in the exciting 80ies. so i've just purchased an 86 fiero with a not even halfa*sed twinturbo setup:

as you can see there are no swingvalves + no wastegates. there also is no fuel compensation or chip modifying done whatsoever. the only mod is an adjustable hks BOV.
the car is a total dog that bogs on WOT and is only driveable with a soft foot in the partthrottle range. you can feel it could do a lot better though...

i plan on utilizing a 7730 ecm with $59 code via ostrich. zeitronix zt-2 kit and a 2 bar map sensor are on their way, i still am thinking of what to do with my fueling and the turbos. thoughts like a second fuel pressure regulator and/or bigger injectors and getting swingvalves and wastegates and a boostcontroller are floating around my head.

feel free to comment on any of the above. i'm not 100% decided on everything, but i will come up with detailed questions later for sure

greeetz,
ivan

Looks like it will be a fun project getting to run correctly.

To run code 59, you need a 3 Bar Map sensor. A 2 bar won't work with it.

Also make sure you wire up the 730 ECM like it is a 749 either following the Turbo Sunbird Diagrams if you have Low z peak and hold injectors or follow the SyTy Diagrams for High Z Batch Fire injectors. Them make sure you have the correct MEMCAL for the number of injectors you will be running.

Here are a few 3 bar maps sensors that will work with 59.

* GM 3 Bar Map

GM Style 3 Bar Pressure Sensors
Manufacturer Part Number

GM (old)* 16040749
AC Delco (old)* 213-101
GM (new)** 12223861
AC Delco (new)** 213-1562
MSD** 2313
MSD (compact)** 23131
Borg Warner** EC1678
NAPA CRB219481
Electromotive Engine Controls 71130
Holley 538-23

thank you for the hints paul.
i ordered the map because i do not intend to see that high boost numbers. clearly i should have started reading here before that

can't i adjust the xdf file and the boost trigger in the bin accordingly since the map output (0-5V) is always the same?

The map variable and transfer functions in the bin have been coded for 3bar. So you would need to make changes in a couple of places and then completely redo all the XDF Map variables. Then any chip you start with will have all the settings for 3 bar in their map constants. So you would need to change all those MAP Constants.

Not sure if it is worth it. The 16x32 fuel table in 59 makes up for the 3bar map.
