TunerView II, What the..? 1 Month, 1 Week ago Karma: 6
Well I have had in my posesion since Monday a TunerView II and a moates.net ALDLink to test and verify functionality with $59.

It works! and works very well. JR, from HRTuning has provided a couple firmware updates over the last couple days, to fix some minor glitches, and has helped me, along with Craig Moates, get the right settings for things the WBO2.

I have some bench testing to do to check some stuff that would be different for my car than most other people's, but it seems fully functional right now. Not everything that is in the TP RT ADS/ADX is defined for the TV II, but more will be added in the future. Most of the basic important values are there though.

One thing, while it may seem small that I REALLY like about this TV II, is that the MAP value can be set to have say KPa for vacuum, but then as soon as there is a trasition above 100 KPA, it automatically switches to PSI, or what ever unit you define in the software. 7 screens in total, each one can be used to display a different value or up to 8 values. Only 1 "large" value for each screen or upto 8 "small" values.

The TV II was originally designed and used for Hondas and Acuras.

Anyway onto the pictures...

I was giddy even at this point...

Unpacking...

All the wonderful new toys.. There's some other stuff that I ordered from Moates in there as well, not just the TV II

The Tuner View II itself. Craig put this in a case for me, with a suction cup. It can be ordered with or without the case.

This is so new that Craig doesn't have ALDLink stickers yet, so there is the Xtreme ALDL sticker on it, which I think is a more fitting name for this than the orginal product. LOL

This is what is different from the Xtreme ALDL, normally there would be an USB A connector here:

A picture in my car.

I have since changed the way I mount it in the car, because the suction cup started falling off. Because of this I think I have found exactly where I am going to install it.

I should have more pictures later.

That is pretty cool.

Six, I don't see thew new ALDL cable on Moates Site yet. What TunerViewII do you need? The Demon Module or Direct ECU? Also where do we get the new firmware from? I know a bunch of SyTy guys have been looking for something like this for years.

I had been discussing something like this with Craig for over a year now, close to 2 IIRC...

I made arrangements with Craig to get the ALDLink sent when I ordered the Tuner View II.

The TunerView II is the same one used in the Hondas and Acuras, it just has the firmware updated by JR at HRTuning to have the $8D and $59 support. I have been working with JR to get the bugs ironed out, so that when anyone else gets thires it will be fully functional.

The Firmware updates I have been getting have been through e-mail direct from JR with fixes, though there is a Fireware on the HRTuning site that has the initial $59 support that I started from. You can down load it and see the PC interface used for programming, it doesn't need to be connected to a TV II to look at it.

Not all values are defined yet, I think JR just wanted to get most of the basics, get the bugs worked out and then add more values.

I have made a thread on the HRTuning forum showing this off, if you joined that site and added some input, in that other Sy/Ty guys are looking for something like this, it may help get more development of the $59 support, even though the support so far as been awesome. JR and I have exchanged a dozen or so e-mails a day discussing this and other possibilities. http://www.hrtuning.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1387
Some install ideas: http://www.hrtuning.com/pages/category/installs

You can also e-mail Craig Moates about the ALDLink, and see if he has more ready to be shipped out.

Well let us know when this is ready for mass consumption. I know a ton of Sy/Ty guys will be all over this when it is ready.

Where did you get the TunerView II from?

I got my TV II from Craig.

The TV II is listed on the site under Datalogging and Reflash. There is also mention of the ALDLink in the description, but no real option to select it as of yet, that I know of.

Best bet is to e-mail Craig and find out how available the ALDLink is, or when it will be. Should be very close if not already.

What ALDL values will be displayable on the TunerViewII? All or just some values. Definately make sure KR is one of them if only a few will be read out of the ALDL.

So far, mostly just basics, MAP, AFR, RPM, VSS, and a few others, just to get it up and tested. Currently KR is not of them, but is on my short list to request to be added. You can download the TV II software and see exactly what is available to displayed.

The only issue we are having currently is Timing relative to TDC showing 0.0 unless commanded timing is over 90*, then it just displays 0.35, no matter what the cammanded timing is. The only reason the over 90* was discovered is because of the DIS application I am using it in, that I need an extra 60* of commanded timing to have correct crank timing. Everything else is working perfectly though.

One of the very cool things is that MAP can be displayed in a few different ways. It can be set to display KPA only, KPA for vacuum, and PSI for pressure, inHG for Vacuum and BAR for pressure, mBar for vacuum, mBar, or any combination between. Want mbar for Vacuum and Bar for pressure, it can display that. Currently I have mine displayed as inHG for vacuum and PSI for pressure. Uses the $3F value. 1 BAR is also selectable, and accurate to what TP shows.

Re:TunerView II, What the..? 1 Week, 5 Days ago Karma: 6
So who's ready to order?

What $59 ALDL variables would everyone like to see? I know KR is top of the list, and that's what I've sent to JR.

I have also suggested a few flags being AE, PE and DFCO.

This is the list I have suggested:

-=Values=- Address Conversion Units
Knock Retard 0x33 X * 0.175781 + 0.000000 Degrees
Injector PW 0x1F X * 0.015258 + 0.000000 mSec
Wastegate DC 0x37 X * 0.390625 + 0.000000 Percent
Desired Boost 0x2D X * 1.230000 + 2.200000 Kpa
Desired Boost 0x2D X * 0.172335 + 0.000000 PSI
Desired AFR 0x28 X * 0.100000 + 0.000000 AFR
BLM 0x11 X
INT 0x13 X
IAC Motor Pos 0x14 X Steps

-=Flags=- Address Operand
DFCO Active 0x39 0x08
PE mode Active 0x3A 0x20
AE mode Active 0x3A 0x40
Closed Loop 0x3E 0x80
Shift Light/TCC 0x3D 0x80

I figured that was most of the important ones. The calculations and adresses I pulled from an ADX.

Looks good. A couple of Nice to haves would be:

-=Flags=- Address Operand
  • Check Engine (Error Codes)

  • Intercooler Pump/Fan Active (IC Pump is the flag for both FANS and IC pump depending on which one you have hooked up)

  • DE Active

  • -=Values=- Address Conversion Units
  • MAT TEMPS
  • - Consider this a must have
  • TPS%
  •

I'd be ready to order.... I think KR (in addition to what I see in that picture) is a big one. I'll think about it some more this afternoon as I'm in the middle of looking through a bunch of DataMaster logs.

I'm not sure if it would work, but the display that was spec'd for the Monster Cable iCruze program can be hacked and reworked.... and it looks nice. Here is a link to that whole topic http://cbxdragbike.com/arduino/icruze/index.html
Nice thing is that these can probably be purchased complete cheaper than just the bare display.. I'm not sure that it is compatible, though. We were responsible for the car-side integration on that whole program.
